History of The College

The Regent College Abuja (TRC) started in response to the requests by parents of The Regent Secondary School and others for a Sixth Form College. The Board of the Regent College decided to approach the request in a professional and contemplative way. After due diligence, they eventually decided on starting in September 2017.

The college opened its doors to learners on the 20th of September 2017 with 23 teachers and 23 students. The session however closed with 31 students.

It started with two main programs a two-year Cambridge Assessment International Examinations Advanced Level program as well as a one-year University Foundation Program in partnership with St. Andrews College, Cambridge UK (STAN). The UFP curriculum is formulated from the UK AQA Advanced level curriculum and supervised by STAN, the processes of administration are also aligned with that of STAN. They make supervisory visits twice a year to ensure compliance, the exams are set and marked by STAN while TRC teachers vet and moderate jointly.

Every skill that our students would need for university education was incorporated into our curriculum e.g. critical thinking, presentation, leadership, research, problem-solving, digital literacy and efficiency, communication and collaboration, as well as a special university preparation course that is taught in the course of the session, such that by the time students graduate from our college they are ready for good success.

The Canadian University Pathway program also called the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) program was later introduced in 2020. The college is in partnership with Rosedale College, Ontario Canada (the pioneer Canadian provider of the OSSD curriculum outside Canada) for the provision of the OSSD curriculum. This program opens doors to most A-List universities in every continent and it is equivalent to the International Baccalaureate Diploma in rating for university admissions.

The Regent College is a High Achieving college in all the programs on offer. In the first 5 years of our existence, we succeeded in placing students in key prestigious universities in every continent of the world. Our Foundation program is rated very high and accepted in many Red Brick and Russell Group universities in the UK, the rest of Europe, and the UAE.

The Cambridge Advanced International Examinations programme (CAIE) has been very successful at The Regent College Abuja.
